About H&J Quintet

South Korean jazz flutist, composer and arranger, Hanna Kim and drummer Jun Hyuk Seo (Joseph Seo) of Brookline MA, are the co-bandleader of the H & J Quintet.

 

This Band selected for Spring ArtWeek Boston 2017 for Jazz Improvisation and Hymnal Jazz Artist Talk as well as Spring ArtWeek MA 2018. They play music in the Greater Boston Area. 

 

Hanna Kim and Joseph Seo released their debut album Reminisce which Hanna Kim arranged the hymnals to jazz and composed the tune, Prayer for Boston. It is composed during Boston Marathon Bombing which contribute who were affected by the tragedy. This year, one of her arrangements of H&J Quintet, My Father's World received a Category Winner and Finalist at the Made in New York Jazz Competition. 

 

The H&J Quintet's album Reminisce, is a collection of the instrumental hymnal jazz album. It was manly influenced by Brazilian jazz and ecclesiastical music.The music consists of various style of jazz with different grooves such as baiao, samba, bossa nova, odd meter, swing, and ballad. The Reminisce is available on major streaming platforms, and on physical CD through CD Baby.
